What We Heard: Survivor-Led Strategies to Inform the Implementation of Canada’s National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence

In 2021, Laadliyan had the opportunity to engage over 50 South Asian community members in consultations on the issue of gender-based violence and collected recommendations on what types of interventions and supports we need to eliminate GBV.

Laadliyan is proud to see our recommendations, key learnings and concrete calls to accountability & action, and community’s voices reflected in YWCA Canada’s preliminary report.

Diva International x Laadliyan

Laadliyan received a $5000 donation and 300 menstrual cups from our partner, Diva International. This partnership allowed us equip our Laadli Care Packages with sustainable products and educate our community about menstrual health.

Since 2018, We have successfully collected and donated over 1,935 Laadli Care packages valued at $38,700.

Brown Women Health ft. Laadliyan

Whether it's during a global pandemic or not, brown girls oftentimes have to face the obstacles of setting boundaries within our families. How can we say no to our parents? How can we tell our siblings to stop performing certain actions? All in all, boundaries plays a huge role in our mental health.

The Harms of Son Preference

We had the opportunity to be featured in Behind Closed Doors, a series by City News Toronto and Omni TV, focusing on gender based violence. Our work on son preference was highlighted in this series, which focused on different ways gender based violence looks in our community.

Our 2020 Impact Report

Biji & Me in the Toronto Star

Our Biji & Me program was featured on the front page of the Toronto Star in October 2019! Biji & Me is an intergenerational program between South Asian grandmothers and granddaughters which was created to lessen the intergenerational gap between both groups through knowledge sharing, learning and teaching.

 

Matt & Natt x Laadliyan

In Dec 2020, we received a donation of crossbody bags from one of our favourite brands, Matt & Nat valued at $17,000. The donation not only allowed us to provide our clients with menstrual hygiene products, but we were also able to provide everyone with a reusable vegan fashion accessory. In 2020, we were able to donate over 800 Laadli Care Packages valued at $33,000! Check out this video to see our impact!
