Manvinder Gill

Anthropologist & Social Worker

Manvinder Kaur Gill is an anthropologist and social worker whose research focuses on gender and substance use. She holds an MA in religious studies from McMaster University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto. She has held research fellowships at Delhi University and the University of Victoria. Most recently, Manvinder worked in Punjab, India as a research associate for MIT’s J-PAL South Asia research lab on a project targeting opioid addiction prevention in collaboration with the Government of Punjab’s Department of Education. Manvinder has clinical experience working with children and families, 2SLGBTQ+ people, and immigrant and refugee communities. She will be joining the University of Michigan’s joint PhD program in social work and anthropology this fall. Manvinder has been an active member of the Laadliyan community in various capacities since 2018 and is excited to share space with everyone once again.
