Herleen Arora

Co-Founder, South Asian & Tamil Women’s Collective

Herleen Arora (she/her) is a passionate educator, community builder, researcher, consultant, and mama to two tiny humans. Her work focuses on improving the economic and social well-being of communities marginalized due to systems and structures in areas of education, employment, and community health. She has over 15 years of experience working with non-profit and public sector organizations and leaders. As the founder of Arora Research & Consultant, Herleen has been trusted with her expertise to lead and deliver projects across Canada focusing on research and evaluation, strategy, program design, and training and facilitation.

She is also the Co-founder and Managing Director of the South Asian & Tamil Women’s Collective (add instagram handle) – a grassroots organization that creates spaces for intergenerational connection, growth, and learning for South Asian and Tamil girls, women, and gender-diverse communities. Herleen holds a Masters of Education in Social Justice and Equity Studies, and a Bachelor of Health Sciences from Western University. At the heart of her work, she uses an anti-oppressive and equity lens and is on a continuous path of learning from and with diverse communities.

South Asian and Tamil Women’s Collective is leading a research project looking at the career development and employment needs of young South Asian and Tamil women, and gender diverse individuals. Share your thoughts and experiences by taking our survey!

Participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be within the age range of 18 - 30 years old

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status

  • Identify as South Asian and/or Tamil

  • Self-identify as a woman or gender diverse individual

  • Attend school, be working, or unemployed

  • Live in York Region, Peel, Durham or Toronto
